29. Twisted Verbs -ę -sz - kupuję kupujesz

Not everything is so clear among the -ę -sz verbs. Sometimes the root of the verb to which we add endings changes... Why ? Just for the fun of it ;)

On the right we have a list of verbs.
If you want to follow the rule of conjugation for the verb
'kupować' - to buy, you would say:
ja kupowę
ty kupowesz
on kupowe etc

well,... the above forms do not exist. The root: kupowa- changes into  
kupuj- ( for I / they)
kupuje - ( for you / he she / we / you plural)
. 
So in fact, you should say
ja kupuję             my kupujemy
ty kupujesz          wy kupujecie
on kupuje             oni kupują

Exercise: Take a look at other verbs which root becomes -uj / aj. Try to continue the conjugation saying the form for: he/she, we, you plural, they.

answer: pracuje, pracujemy, pracujecie, pracują; podróżuje, podróżujemy, podróżujecie, podróżują;  relaksuje się, relaksujemy się, relaksujecie się, relaksują się; 

rano - in the morning
wcześnie - early
późno - late
w sklepie - in the shop
świat- the world
po świecie - round the world

Exercise: Choose the correct form. 1. On sprzedaje / sprzedawa mieszkanie.
2. Ja wstawam / wstaję wcześnie rano.
3. Ty pracowasz / pracujesz w sklepie.
4. My relaksowamy się / relaksujemy się.
5. Oni przygotowują / przygotowają śniadanie.
6. Tomek podróżuje / podróżowa po świecie.
7. My kupowamy / kupujemy rower. 
8. Wy wstawacie / wstajecie późno.














There are some other verbs with twisted root:

Exercise: Take a look at these 3 twisted verbs.Try to continue the conjugation saying the form for: he/she, we, you plural, they.


prysznic - a shower
ciszej ! - silence! ( literally: more silent)
dzieci - children
parasol - umbrella
wolne - free, a day off work
prawie - almost

Exercise: Decide if in the below sentences the form of the verb is created correctly.

1.On biore prysznic.
2, Ty piszesz test.
3. Ciszej! Dzieci śpią. 
4. My pisamy SMS.
5. Adam teraz spa.
6. Co wy piszecie ?
7. Pada. My bierzemy parasol. 
8. Jestem głodny. Bierzę hamburger.
9. Jestem zmęczony. Prawie śpię.
10. On bierze wolne jutro. 

Exercise: Replace the basic form of verbs in the table with a correct form.

rzadko - rarely
często - often
Allegro - polish portal which ressembles ebay.
